GIM training has been a little confusing, and a little absent, lately. But we are reassured that HEE has now got its act together and there is confusion no more! Unfortunately, despite our pleas, they have decided to run everything through Synapse (a leading contender for least user-friendly website ever made). So, you must make sure you have a password, and that you have signed up to receive updates about GIM regional training days in your area. Here is how:
In Synapse – once registered,
- Click ‘My profile’ (or your name in the top right hand corner)
- Under ‘My training programmes’ click ‘Add another’
- There select ‘London and KSS Schools of Medicine’ and in the next drop down box ‘General Internal Medicine’, and then ‘General internal medicine north sector’.
Once you have done this you should be able to see the GIM training days in NCEL, NW and S London. To find them, you need to click on ‘General Internal Medicine’, and then on the right hand side, click on ‘North East and North Central London GIM Regional Training 17-18’.
Here is what is up on synapse currently. You will notice that there are not actually any Regional Training Days on there. All we see is the GIM sessions organised by James, Jason and Aarash (SpRs going above and beyond – thanks guys!). You can click the link on the right to get a QR code which you’ll need to sign in on the day and get a certificate of attendance. Let’s hope some actual GIM days appear in the near future.
These dates are all on the RespNet trainees calendar and will appear on the RespNet front page.
If you have any queries relating to events you can contact: https://lasepgmdesupport.hee.nhs.uk/support/home and if you are having any technical difficulties with your Synapse account email servicedesk@hee.nhs.uk.
