Lung Transplantation training

As you progress through your rotations acquiring skills and experience, you need to check you are also acquiring sub-specialty experience in time for your CCT. For Lung Transplantation the requirements are:

  • attend teaching programme/course
  • 2 outpatient clinics in specialist/satellite clinic
  • CbD

You can find more details in a previous news and opportunities post, and in the FAQs (including contact details of relevant departments).

This year there are two courses that will get you the necessary knowledge related to Lung Transplantation, in advance of a placement.

  • The RSM has now released details of the Update on Lung Transplantation Day they are running on 8th June, and you can now book. Early bird rates (£80 for non-members) end on 9th May. The day is organised by Dr Michael Beckles, Consultant in Respiratory Medicine and General Physician, Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
  • The alternative is to book onto the BTS course, which in on 22nd September. £195 for BTS members. The day is organised by Professor Andrew Fisher from the Institute of Transplantation, Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne.
